Android-Entwickler arbeiten gerade fleißig an einem Update namens CupCake, was so viel heißt wie “kleiner, muffinähnlicher Kuchen“. CupCake verspricht viele Verbesserungen und Neuerungen, welche über simple BugFixes weit hinausgehen.

Einen Taskmanager mit dem man endlich einen Überblick über laufende Programme hat und diese zur Not auch mal “killen” kann.
Umfangreiche Copy & Paste Funktionalität im Browser.

Videoaufnahme wird dann endlich auch ohne extra Applikationen möglich.
Es wird eine virtuelle Tastatur eingeführt, mit welcher man direkt auf dem Touchscreen Text eintippen kann.
Neue optische Effekte beim Öffnen und Schließen von Fenstern.

In realtime! I was never before daring to think about such a possibility, but now knowing about it, I wish I could integreate it in every single applications of mine.

Medialets is currently running a “The Medialets Android Beta Program“. Immediately after figuring this out I applied for an account. Now I’m looking forward to be “good” enough to become a beta tester. Of course, I will write some detailed test reports if that happens.
With Medialytics you are able to answer the following questions:
- How many downloads does my application have? in “nearly real time“
- How many do I have earned with my application?
- Which actions are used?
- How often is an action used?
- How the users are interacting with my application?
Even if the phone is not connected with the Internet, usage information are collected. If the phone comes after a while online these information are transmitted.
This could lead to a little evolution in software development. Now we are able to to adapt our softwae to user needs while they are using it and without bothering them with boring feedback polls.
But the best thing is: It seems to be completely free!
Lets hope that they will shortly release the first stable version !

Maybe somebody of you have noticed that andforge.net is now running on our own server with wordpress. Previously it was running on gooles Blogger but unfortunately we experienced some problems with their What You Get Is (Not) What You See editor. As we know how to write html we tried to use their alternative html editor which was even more confusing and not really a “real” html editor.
But now we are running on wordpress and everything is fine!
We even managed it to adapt nearly the complete look and feel

Vor ein paar Tagen bin ich beim Surfen auf Android-Hilfe.de gestoßen.
Mein erster Gedanke war:
“Verdammt!
Warum hab ich mir diese Domain nicht gesichert!?”
Nachdem der erste Frust verflogen war hab ich mich entschieden einen Account anzulegen um zu sehen was hinter dieser Domain steckt. Der erste optische Eindruck war sehr gut, alles wirkt durchdacht und aufgeräumt. Das ist sehr wichtig für Foren, da sie schnell dazu neigen dem bösartigen “Chaos-Monster” zu verfallen.
Auf mich hat Android-Hilfe.de einen noch etwas mäßig belebten Eindruck gemacht. Jedoch existieren Beiträge zu den wichtigsten Themen und diese wurden auch fleißig beantwortet.

Ich bin mir aber sicher, dass dieses Forum eines der meist besuchten android Foren Deutschlands werden wird, sobald erste offizielle Android Phones in Deutschland erscheinen! Noch gibt es einfach zu wenig Benutzer, welche Android-Hilfe benötigen. Momentan sind fast alle deutschen android g1 Besitzer irgendwelchttp://www.andforge.net/wordpress/wp-admin/post-new.phphe Tekkis, die Spaß daran haben ohne fremde Hilfe Probleme zu lösen.
Dies wird sich aber in den nächsten zwei Jahren drastisch ändern!

After two days of playing with my new dev phone I realised while writing my first android SMS a horrible truth. These US keyboards don’t have any German special chars (called Umlaute) like ä, ö, ü and so on!!!. So I used a really stupid brute force method trying all possible combinations with the alt, shift, menu and character keys.
No success!
After eating some chocolate to refresh my motivation I asked the google search bar for some help and found the solution
Only hold the related character key for a few seconds down!
For example press and hold the ‘a’ button to write an ‘ä’.
This solution was simply to simple for me and my stupid “brute force android special char finding algorithm”. I hope this blog entry helps somebody out there to find his special chars and prevents people from making the same horrible experience.
